Moon Landing

Музыка – древнее искусство. В норме она требует совместного присутствия исполнителей и слушателей, из которого рождается музыкальное событие. Однако 2020 год поместил музыку, как и многое другое, за пределы сложившихся норм. Проект Radio Instantopia, задуманный и “вышедший на орбиту” в одних условиях, вынужден был уже в полёте перегруппироваться, чтобы встретить новую реальность. Успех потребовал переосмысления задачи в рамках футуристической космической метафоры: вместо исходно задуманной свободной коллаборации групп художников из Калининграда и Берлина (или лучше России и Германии?) проект трансформировался в управляемую из “центра” стыковку двух капсул с изолированными экипажами с последующей высадкой на неизведанную лунную поверхность. Рискованность ситуации, её техническая сложность, зависимость от надёжности каналов связи, неопределённость и многовариантность сценариев, потребовавших тщательного продумывания и алгоритмизации, напряжённость ожидавших высадки участников – всё это стало неотъемлемой частью результата проекта, представленного здесь. Ощущение того, что мы исследуем и обживаем будущее, пытаемся угадать очертания его форм, не во всём благоприятствующих человеку, не покидало нас. Результат внушает оптимизм: музыка и музицирование как способ бытия вместе сохраняет свою силу, несмотря на расстояния, опосредованность техникой и толщину скафандров. “Высадка на Луну” состоялась, и мы приглашаем вас стать её зрителем.

Die Musik ist eine uralte Kunstform. Im Normalfall erfordert sie die gemeinsame Anwesenheit von Ausführenden und Zuhörern, woraus das musikalische Ereignis geboren wird.

Das Jahr 2020 jedoch hat die Musik, wie vieles andere auch außerhalb der gegebenen Normen versetzt. Das Projekt Radio Instantopia, das unter bestimmten Bedingungen geplant und gestartet war, musste sich bereits „im Flug“ umorientieren, um die Flugbahn der neuen Realität anzupassen.

Der Erfolg erforderte ein Umdenken in Bezug auf die Aufgabenstellung im Rahmen einer futuristischen kosmischen Metapher: Anstelle der ursprünglich gedachten freien Kollaboration der Künstlergruppen aus Kaliningrad und Berlin (bzw. Russland und Deutschland) transformierte sich das Projekt in das von einem „Zentrum“ dirigierte Zusammendocken von zwei Kapseln mit isolierten Besatzungen und die nachfolgende Landung in einer unerforschten Mondlandschaft.
Das Riskante der Situation, ihre technische Komplexität, die Abhängigkeit von stabilen Informationskanälen, die Unbestimmtheit und Variabilität der Szenarien, welche sorgfältige Reflexion und behutsames Algorithmisieren erforderte, die Anspannung der die Landung erwartenden Beteiligten – das alles wurde zum festen Bestandteil des Resultats dieses Projektes, das nun hier vorgestellt wird. Das Gefühl, dass wir eine Zukunft erforschen und beleben, dass wir versuchen, die Umrisse ihrer Form zu erraten, die nicht immer dem Menschen zuträglich sind, hat uns nicht verlassen. Das Resultat gibt Anlass zu Optimismus: Musik und Musizieren als Art und Weise des Zusammenseins bewahrt seine Kraft – unabhängig von der räumlichen Distanz, der Vermittlung durch technische Hilfsmittel und der Dicke der Raumanzüge. Die Mondlandung hat stattgefunden, und wir laden Sie ein als Zuschauer dabei zu sein.

Music is one of the ancient art forms. Usually, to give birth to the musical event requires the simultaneous presence of musicians and audience. The year 2020, however, has placed music, and many other things besides, outside the accepted norms. The project Radio Instantopia, which was prepared and launched under certain conditions, had to reinvent itself “on the fly”, in order to realign itself to the trajectory of the new reality. Success requires rethinking the original task in the context of a futuristic, cosmic metaphor: instead of the envisaged free collaboration of the groups of artists from Kaliningrad and Berlin (Russia and Germany, respectively) the project morphed into the docking, supervised and directed by a “centre”, of two capsules with their isolated crews and the ensuing landing on an as yet unexplored lunar landscape. The risky nature of the situation, its technical complexity, the dependence on stable channels for the exchange of information, the indeterminacy and variability of the scenarios, which demanded meticulous reflection as well as careful translation into algorithms, and the tension gripping the participants, who eagerly anticipated the landing – all that became an integral part of the project’s results, which we present here. The sense of exploring and breathing life into a future, the attempt to guess the outlines of the form it will take, which will not always be agreeable to humans, that feeling has never deserted us. The outcome provides grounds for optimism: music and making music as a way of getting together retains its force – independent of the physical distance, the mediation of technical devices and the thickness of the space suits. The moon landing has taken place and we invite you to take part as a spectator.
